Received a can of this on 12-30-23 from a friend whose wife does all the beer buying and could not pass up a post-holiday Sam's club special. Canned stamped 23-159 so presumably expired 6-8-23.

Beer poured copper with a nice white head. But it is copper colored. Hmmm.

Nose is detecting sweet corn.

Taste is sweet as i am getting a corn led malt base that finishes with a apple and pear flavor and on the sweet side and lacking any bittering edge.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and feels heavier than the 5% abv.

Overall not sure one can call this a pilsner.

Golden color, high carbonation. More hoppy than the typical pilsner. Some citrus flavors. Light body, easy to drink. It's ok, not bad, not good, forgettable.

12 oz can

This is an OK beer but ours off-style. The copper colored, relatively dark body suggests an atypical malt load. Tasting suggests the hop load is on the weak side. The bitterness is low as are other hop- based flavor components.

Poured from a 12oz can

On the pour 2 fingers of head form, but this beer is so violently carbonated the head actually continues to grow for a minute after pouring. Honestly a little disturbing. When I snapped a pic of this, it looked hazy on camera just because of how much carbonation. Body is a brass color, definitely dark for the style. Doesn't so much lace as just leaving foam scattered inside the glass as you drink it down. Are they using some weird foaming agent to boost head retention? All these beers have way too much head and retention time for their own good.

Aroma doesnt carry a whole ot of any pilsner character. Actually smells sickly sweet and off almost like an infection not to mention heaps of DMS. This is more excusable in an ale, but if your pilsner smells like a scotch ale gone wrong something has seriously catastrophically gone wrong. There is a strangely sweet floral hop on the nose in the back.

Taste isnt much better, although everything gets dialed back. There is zero bready malt flavor to speak of. At first it seems like it might be ok, then that cloying off sweetness and DMS creeps in right before a hop bitterness with no discernible qualities comes in, much stronger than expected.

Feel comes off as similar to the New England IPA Advent beer with dryness actually sticking around without too much syrupy mouthfeel, but again the finish is long but not in a crisp way. Too sweet!

I knew this one was gonna be bad. There's nowhere for Minhas to hide their bullshit in a pilsner, especially in a line of beers they apparently either didn't care about or severely rushed out the door.

Very slightly hazy amber color with a modest foamy white head. The aroma is light malt, biscuits and a bit of caramel with some herbal hops. The taste is the same with a bit more caramel and some kind of herbal hops in the finish, The body is light, minimal carbonation, fairly smooth and very drinkable. Altogether, this is a decently tasty and refreshing brew, best ice cold.

Appearance: Slightly hazy golden orange in color, with a small, somewhat coarse white head. The lacing casts an irregular, but unbroken ring about the glass wall. Clouds of quite small bubbles drift lazily to the surface.

Aroma: Fairly prominent herbal and grassy hops that do not seem to be of noble variety. The prototypical cracker malt is also lacking, what is there seems more like typical pale malt.

Taste: Opens with abundant pale malt, with a slight bread note. A good bit of herbal hops accompany the malt, though the hops do not present like noble hops. AS the taste progresses, the hops intensify. The taste closes with a long-lingering herbal and medicinal bitterness.

Mouth feel: Smooth and pleasant, full and soft, with only slight carbonation.

Drinkability/notes: This seems more like a moderately hoppy American Lager. It is not bad, to be sure, but it dos not seem like a classic Pilsner to me.

Presentation: Packaged in a twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a La Fin du Monde tulip. Beer number five from the Sam's Club Beer Advent calendar.
