(French for Westbound)

Brewed with Westmalle Trappist yeast and copious amounts of Pilsner malt resulting in a smooth, easy-sipping ale with a highly fruity nose and tastes of black pepper, cloves and water crackers.

Had a small glass while having lunch with Da Boss 6-17-20.

Beer was served golden orange with a nice white head with the original pour.

Nose had notes of pear and apple.

Taste follows the nose as the pear and apple from the yeast expressed pretty well over the pale malt base. Finished a little sweet.

Mouthfeel was medium bodied and not as effervescent as hoped for the style.

Overall a pretty nice beer that was fun to try!

"Vers L'ouest Triple" on-draught @ the brewpub.

8.90% ABV.

10oz for $8.

Pretty horrid for a tripel, but nice as a Belgian (strong) pale.

i liked this one real well, and behind the scotch, it was the best beer in the house. the appearance was amazing. huge two inches of white thick head in the globe, rising above the rim and standing long. great beer mustache here. really clear for the style too, none of the common residual yeast in this, and lots of little bubble flying around. it smells simple for what it is too, less of the oats and wheat thing, more of the pale barley malt. the yeast stands out more as a result though, a nice old world strain with some spice and fruit elements. white pepper and clove, both subtle, behind some golden raisin and honey notes, floral too and bitter like dandelion. great yeast used well. less body than i am used to in the style, and a whole lot less residual sugar. this might not even have an alcohol spiking candy sugar addition, and if it does, its minor and really fermented mostly out. clean as it winds down, with no booze heat even when its room temperature, and a smoothness that i really like going down. definitely not one of the more complex examples of the style, but its well made and very drinkable for what it is. well done, cool yeast.
