they call this a regionally confused ipa or something like that, an attempt to merge east and west coast styles apparently, brewed for hops and pie. they are relatively successful here, as this is a brightly hoppy and well made ipa, but its not as distinct as i hoped it would be, still, extremely fresh and drinkable. golden in color, perhaps a little chill haze, but in appearance its more west than east. the hops smell like a heavy handed dry hop, juicy and fruity with apricot and peach notes, some fresh pine, and a lot of oils but very low bitterness, maybe more east than west here, a highly developed juiciness, but clean too, very nice. the flavor takes all of that too, fruity hops without a lot of bitterness, slight bubblegum or something in the flavor too, lingering on the tongue after the swallow but its never too much. easy drinking due to a very moderate grain profile and a nice dryness at the end, also really well carbonated. with a heavy hitter like hops and pie involved, i hoped for a more distinct and assertive beer, but this is a tasty summery ipa that should be popular in there. good stuff.
