Our American Porter, this season, has the addition of Sweet Bloom Coffee Roaster’s Colbran Family Roast from Western Highlands Papua New Guinea. Chocolate, roast, and espresso flavors inherent in our porter match up beautifully with the caramel, toffee and Tootsie Roll notes of Sweet Bloom's coffee.

16oz canned 10-15-24, opened 12-29-24.
Sweet Bloom Coffee Roasters.
1 1/2-inch beige head with good retention - settles in as a solid cap with early lacing.
Dark brown/black body with some ruby edges.
Mild roast coffee aroma, coffee with cream, char,
Bolder coffee in the flavor than in the aroma and toffee + semi-sweet chocolate. Smooth flavor overall (roasty, coffee, fruity) especially as it warms.
Medium body with a creamy mouthfeel. Long finish with some lingering sweetness and bitter char makes it bittersweet.
Very Good.

Pours darker than most porters with a lite head. Smells malty with a faint coffee aroma. While I enjoyed and would drink more, this is more of a porter coffee than coffee porter. I really liked base porter beer, but would have liked a little more of the coffee (more bitter?).

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like very roasty coffee, smoke, roasted malt, and dark chocolate.
This is simple, but well done - a classic coffee porter, with lots of roast, and a bright, chocolatey coffee character. There's a hint of smoke, but nothing overwhelming.
This is medium bodied, crisp, clean, and slightly creamy, with a really nice drinkability.
I haven't had much from WB&D outside of their barrel aged stouts/barleywines, but with this coffee porter, it's clear that they can do most anything well.

16 oz can, canned 11/2/21. Pours dark brown with a big fluffy light tan head that retains well and leaves a little lacing.
The aroma is rich chocolate with a lot of roast coffee.
The flavor is sweet grainy malts with chocolate and roast coffee that has some vegetal ashy notes. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with low carbonation.
Overall, it's OK with some off notes.

Very dark yet clear brown body; thick, dense and foamy head; sticky. Excellent smell blend of roasted grain and dark roasted coffee; mocha. The taste mirrors the aroma; a bit maltier, sweeter; toffee; mild suggestion of caramel; definitely coffee bitterness (difficult to say anything about the hops). Heavy body yet a bit weak in feel; sticky and semi-sweet.
This is a fine, robust coffee porter. The smell and taste really hit the mark. The brewery teamed up with Sweet Bloom Coffee Roasters for this beer. They're located in Lakewood, CO.

L: A dark brown brew and berry purple At the fringe. Almost looks like a dark berry juice but for the finger of espresso cream froth which leaves a wide web of splotchy lace on the glass.
S: Intense and intoxicating aromas of awesome coffee, dark roasts, rich cocoa and pecans, and minor notes of leather and tobacco.
T: A rich and strong presence for the ABV, this comes off as one liquid, not a blend of beer and coffee. Great balance and as good as it smells.
F: Not as thin as most beers with this level of coffee. Well carbonated and a nice bitter bite.
O: My 32nd Porter since I started recording, and by far the best! The power and balance with the lighter ABV drinkability is unmatched.

Pours a dark ruby brown with half a finger of mocha foam. Slight tight lacing the way down
Upfront notes of roasted coffee and toast. Hop character coming through.
A solid porter base, roasted malts and coffee with a touch of hop bitterness
A tad too thin, feels watered down. Has decent carbonation and nice bittering.
Overall a good porter, This is closer to a dark ale but I dig the mix in styles. Would have another on tap
