This one pours a very dark black color, with a small but long-lasting mocha-colored head, and not much lacing.
This smells like dark chocolate cookies, cookie dough, marshmallow, char, oak, light cinnamon spice, dark roast coffee, and caramel.
There's so much complexity to this beer, without any adjuncts added. The barrel character is just about perfect here, adding no booze but adding lots of little flavors wrung out of the nooks and crannies of the barrel. There's caramel, vanilla, sort of a spice that comes off as a cross between cinnamon and coconut, and a big spicy oak character. The base stout's chocolatey character seems amplified heavily here, with a sort of a fudge and chocolate chunk chocolate chip cookies and cookie dough character, along with sweet marshmallow and dark roasty coffee.
This is medium bodied, very creamy, and with absolutely no booze to it. It's crazy drinkable for the style and ABV.
This is one of the most luxurious, complex and well done barrel aged stouts I've ever had. It's the best stout I've ever had from possibly the most underrated barrel aged stout producers in the country.
