This third iteration of our Double Absence Imperial Stout is aged in a single Mile High Wine & Spirits Weller Full Proof store pick barrel and is a showcase of oak highlighted by notes of vanilla crème brulée, brownie batter and toffee.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like roasted malt, tobacco, bitter dark chocolate, crème brulee, toffee, dark chocolate brownies, and oak.
This series is just absurdly good, always and forever, and this is another dynamite entry to that series. There’s a lot of barrel character as always – the intent always seems to be to let the barrel carry everything. There’s lots of oak, some tobacco and cedar-like spice, vanilla and burnt caramel, with a superbly fudgy and toffee-esque stout base underneath.
This is medium bodied, just slightly boozy, but warming and creamy, so it’s quite drinkable.
I think the original batch of Weller Double Absence is still the absolute king, but this is a very worthy successor in this fantastic line of beers.
