Pours pitch black with a finger of mocha head that went away quickly. Aroma is coffee-forward, along with dark and milk chocolate, caramel, charred oak, bourbon spice, vanillin, tobacco, plum, prune, molasses. As for the taste, there's an obvious coffee presence that's earthy and bold, but not green pepper or acrid. Dark chocolate fudge, milk chocolate, lots of burnt sugar, caramel, molasses, tobacco, fig, plum, rye spice, roasted malt, oak tannin, smooth but bold bourbon, vanillin. Full body that's creamy and dense, especially for a barrel-treated beer. Insane barrel, coffee, and base beer. This is amazing. One of the better beers I've had recently.
