Relic Twenty-8 is a beer we make once a year and release just in time for the holidays. Conditioned on toasted coconut and blackberries, this Imperial Stout is a celebration of everything we love about beer.

Small head that eventually settles to fine rim bubbles. Some minor streaks and spot left as lace. Deep dark brown color with no light passing.
Chocolate and alcohol smell. Sweet brandy-like aromas are secondary.
Extremely rich and boozy. The chocolate flavors are an afterthought. Quite warming to the throat and belly. Surprisingly easy to drink, making this a dangerous beer for sobriety. The body and carbonation is within the expected standard. Overall, this is a tremendous beer to try and perhaps repeat. While it's not a big departure from other high alcohol stouts, it is well made.

This beer is black and has a fast-receding tan head. Rich, chocolatey nose -- with an additional whiff of coconut. Fruit notes are also evident in the nose.
The brew is thick -- yet agreeably highly-carbonated. Delicious semisweet chocolate notes dominate the palate. Lingering chocolate finish.
I liked this a lot; I'm sorry it has been retired.
