Double Thunder Funk is the big, bad sibling of our best selling beer, Thunder Funk. To make it, we took our original thunder funk recipe and made everything bigger: more grain and more hops, resulting in more power and more flavor. Despite clocking in at 9.2% abv, this monster IPA is surprisingly subtle in its strength yet delivers intense hop aroma and flavor.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a lightly hazed golden-orange color with a tiny head of white foam. The head fades quite quickly, leaving wisps of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is big of a caramel sweetness mixed with notes of citrus fruits, with a decent showing of orange, tangerine, and grapefruit rind. Along with these aromas comes a bit of tropical fruit of papaya and passionfruit, mixed with some other hop aromas of earthiness with floral notes.
Taste – The taste begins with a bready and caramel malt forward flavor paired with the grapefruit hop that was in the nose. While there was a decent showing of sweeter citrus of tangerine and orange, these flavors were more subdued with just notes of them present in the taste. Fron the start there were other hop flavors of an earthy and herbal nature present, both of which got a bit stronger in intensity as the taste advances. All the while the bread gets a bit bigger, and with a touch of warming alcohol, one is left with a rather pleasant and malty but hopped up taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is slightly more chewy than a standard imperial IPA of 9.2% with a carbonation level that is on the slightly lower to moderate side.
Overall – A nice double overall. A bit more dank and certainly not a juice bomb, which I appreciate. Well worth a try.

Poured from a can dated 12/8/22
Clear amber color thin head and no lacing to speak of
Aroma of citrus and caramel

Poured into a pint glass from a 16 oz can; no birth date. Pours amber, clear yellow with minimal foamy head; no head. Sweet burnt tropical tastes with subtle hops on the back taste. Strong but good.

Pint can into a snifter at fridge temp.
Piney, a bit dank, fruity, lightly sweet. Nice look. Good legs. Kick of ABV. All in all, another brewery doing the same thing as everybody else. Give the people what they want, right?

From a 16oz can, filled on 13OCT21, and procured on 31OCT21 at the Manchester Brewfest.
It's a rich, medium copper color, with a slight bit of haze, and light, sparse carbo. Head is a 1/8" layer of fine, white foam, lasting well with decent lace. The aroma is replete with pithy citrus and dank pine. Body is medium, with some light prickle on the tongue.
Flavor matches the nose, for the most part. Has a smidge of caramel malt, but it's quite restrained. Hops take the lead and don't relinquish it.... has rindy grapefruit and pineapple, along with pithy, resiny pine and dank, earthy action. Solid and flavorful though generally unremarkable. Prosit!!
