First of all, it’s just a name, everything’s fine. It’s a song Matt likes. Although, he probably likes it for sad reasons, but nevertheless.
This Strong Stout was concocted by our newest team member, Simon who has a bit of a fetish for stouts, and chalk. But that’s a story for another day. It’s 8% but in that dangerously cheeky way and it gets more and more interesting as it warms up a bit.

Got this from rutger this past summer
From a 473ml can into a snifter
Brewed under license at Strathcana Beer Company
APPEARANCE: Pitch black pour yields a 1+ finger, looser, foamy dark tan head with okay retention. Foamy, frothy head pops down to a solid wisp. Pitch black, opaque body with some carbonation decorating the top. A half wisp remains leaving decent lacing on the glass as it empties. Great color but a mediocre head at best.
SMELL: Burnt malts, char and tar, very roasted, dark chocolate and tobacco aromas. Very bold, burnt and charred.
TASTE: Roasted and burnt flavors with dark chocolate up front. Very burnt, with tobacco, char and ash at the swallow. Very roasted finish with a bold aftertaste of roasted and burnt malts, dark chocolate, char and some tobacco, with decent bitterness lingering on the palate. Very roasted and flavorful.
PALATE: Medium, slightly lighter body with higher levels of carbonation. A little airy on the palate, goes down fine and finishes somewhat sticky. Some bitterness lingers.
OVERALL: This is a big burnt, roasted bomb of a brew. It’s got piles of dark flavors but it’s not overbearing. Wicked black as well. If it weren’t for the slightly lighter, airier feel, this would be a beauty of a beast. Very enjoyable and highly recommended if you like you’re stouts black and roasted. Cheers, rutger!

Poured from a 473ml can. At 8% ABV this is a Imperial Stout.
A: Man it was like pouring a glass of roofing tar, a thick super dark brown/black with a this tan head.
S: Coffee, chocolate, leather, dark fruit, and molasses says it all.
T: The taste is pretty much what your nose says, all of the above.
F: Still a medium body and dam smooth.
O: A real nice Imperial Stout take it slow at 8 % it has a kick and let it warm up in your glass it will work on you.
