We humbly took the recipe for an imperial stout from Weathered Souls in San Antonio, TX, and put our twist on it, using lager yeast and cold-conditioning it for 7 weeks. The result is a wonderfully rich, smooth, slightly bitter black beer.
The Black Is Beautiful initiative is a collaborative effort amongst the brewing community and its customers, in an attempt to bring awareness to the injustices that many people of color face daily. We brew lots of different beers at Oregon City Brewing, and we love all the hues they come in. But right now - this moment - is the time for Black Is Beautiful.
100% of proceeds for this beer will be donated to the Equal Justice Initiative, whose work is committed to ending mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, to challenging racial and economic injustice, and to protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society.
