Had Héritage de l’Abbaye, brewed in France by Brasseries Kronenbourg, a company of Carlsberg Group, rather than by Brouwerij Alken-Maes, in Nov. 2019 poured from 25-cl. bottle, label stamped À consommer de préférence avant fin: “05.20,” into small red wine glass.

Much maltier than expected from the bright sparkling golden clarity, enough so to balance the big spice aromas and flavors, and mostly hide the ABV.

22 Marzo 2019. De Hipercor. En copa Grimbergen. Jugando a Bastion. Agradable sabor herbal con recuerdos mentolados que hacen que resulte refrescante y bastante facil de beber a pesar de su elevado abv

It is a nice beer to taste but not to binge. I tried with food and the mint-like smell was a little annoying to me.

Pours like all Grimbergens on the blonde spectrum, clear golden body, mid sized foaming head. Dissipation is pretty rapido, and lacing too.

Aroma is great, very spiced mainly cinnamon with some subtle fruits and malt notes.

Taste is good, pretty much following suit of the aroma, plenty of spicy apples packed with that cinnamon hit.....a mild malty aftertaste which is pleasing.

Feel is a tad watery to be honest, dangerously so with a brew of 8.5% abv. It hides the alcohol completely, and could do with sharpening up a touch.

Overall a pretty good brew, and probably another seasonal/limited run by Alken-Mass brewery on the Grimbergen brand, losing count how many varieties they have pumped out now.
