Cloudy pale yellow body with an average, frothy, white head, mostly diminishing with some lacing, though.
Light-to-moderate hoppy (herbal) and yeasty (sweat) aroma with notes of fruits and very light spices.
Moderate sweet and light acidic flavour; long-lasting finish with some bitter and acidic notes.
Light-to-medium body with watery-to-oily texture; average carbonation; moderate alcoholic warming in the finish.

330ml bottle poured into La Chouffe chalice,

A: Golden, hazy, large rocky head which hung around for a while and left some lacing.

S: Phenols and esters

T: Sweet yeasty, hints of biscuit, fruity, hid the booze well.

M: Heavy body, thick texture, low carbonation.

O: A fairly typical Belgian Strong Pale Ale, could be dangerously drinkable.

Shared 330 ml bottle. Pale golden colour, large white head. Strong grassy aroma, notes of spicy yeast, also hints of flowers, herbs and white kandij sugar syrup. Quite sweet and sugary flavour, some spicy yeast and moderate hops, but too much sugar and alcohol in the end.

Dense foam. Quite bitter. Actually so bitter that is hard to find other tastes! but there is some fruit as strawberries and bananas. Nice and delicate smell with a hint of jasmine

L- Quite pale gold, clear (filtered), pours with 1Cm quite pillowy white head.
S- Some mild spice notes, the type typical of certain types of Belgian beer.
T- Starts mild on the palate and rapidly grows in prominence, finishing as something of a statement. Within it is some fruit, banana is clearest for me.
F- 8.5% yet entirely refreshing, zero risk of anything over-heavy or cloying here. Carbonation in the mouth is very good.
O- I like it, I think it's very well put together, well balanced, and there is not a single facet evident that is out of place or balance to me. It isn't cheap but I'm glad I got to try it. I'd very happily drink this again, all in it's a class act.

Intense blonde, very big head, white, elegant.
In the smell yeast, fruit (pear, apple), some candy sugar. Esters.
Classic taste, malt, candy sugar, fruity notes. Relatively dry.
Average body, quite dry finish aftertaste.
Anyway, well done.

pours gold, voluptuous head. crystal clear.
phenol and alchol on the nose, not too much of either. bit of noble hop.

Bit more hop in flavour, some diacytyl, dry-ish but probably not enough for the strenght and lack of bitterness.

It's ok but there are many better blonde belgians out there

Clear yellow color with ample white foam in the Champagne flute. Pleasant hot and fizzy mouthfeel. Clean and malty but fairly dry to start. There's just a modest grainy flavor along with the alcohol. Mineral aftertaste and a very dry yeasty flavor. This doesn't have the fruity taste of the Tripels and Biere de Gardes. More like an aperitif. From the 330 ml bottle purchased at a French supermarket.

330ml Bottle from À la Mort Subite, Brussels (€5.50):
Quite a nice & light beer with a fluffy feel at times but one that had strong carbonation & a sharp, crisp finish with a dryness throughout. It was well-balanced with only a touch of alcohol showing & although the nose could perhaps have been stronger there was nice apple & banana flavours coming through with some yeast & spice as well. Fresh & easy going, the beer was surprisingly good & one that I'd happily pick up again if I found it in the UK.

Interesting brew from the Alken Maes Brewery.

Pours a clear crisp and gassy golden body, plenty of initial head in the tulip glass....looks good for a blonde.

Aroma is just plain and simple booze! The combination of effervescence, 8.5%abv and a tulip glass leads to only one thing.... A chimney full of Alcofuel straight up the nostrils.

Taste is quite sweet as expected but after the second sip, you really start to get the malty goodness coming through, a brew that definitely needs a coating of the tongue.

Feel is pretty good, a little on the gassy side, but nit so much that your mouth explodes. Nice aftertaste.

Overall, it is a nice blonde, one which seems smack between say a bog standard Leffe and a more substantial tripel.

...not a show winner, but a decent brew none the less.
