Let me start by saying that this is a 9.2% ABV, not as it was added.
It states on the can that it's nitro dosed, but not that I should shake the can, so I didn't. I did pour hard. This then created a quick forming and rather short lived head, so next time, perhaps I should also shake the can.
With that behind us, how is the beer?
The nose is obviously of coffee, along with chocolate. The taste is the same, but I don't detect either the caramel or the vanilla, as described on the can. It's also rather watery, though this could be the nitro. This is why the nitro effect is supposed to last longer. Because once it's gone, it's always going to be watery. Otherwise the beer is soft (again, the nitro), with a bitter aftertaste.
Not a horrible attempt, but it needs more work. I would amp up the vanilla slightly and actually add maple, because I am arguing that it isn't there.
Update - do shake the can, along with pouring hard. It makes a sizeable difference.
