A malt forward brew that is heavily dominated with notes of chocolate, caramel, and hints of coffee. Brewed with a variety of specialty malts, and a small dose of Kent Golding and Fuggle hops to keep the sweetness in check.

16oz draft pour shows an opaque ruddy brown body floating a 1/2in cap of light brown sugar colored free form bubbles and leaving copious webbed lacing behind.
The aromas of chocolate, roasted barley, and coffee fight, and win, with a slight touch of rubber band. I'll attribute that to espresso.
Flavors are all toasty, roasty, cocoa and coffee bean.
Mouthfeel is a smooth, almost creamy, medium-leaning lighter body with a slight carbonation bite, and a clean finish.
Overall a tasty porter for the cold and rain turning to sleet.

On tap at my friend, Steve's. Dark brown ale with a tall and frothy tan head that leaves thick lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, dark grain, and earthy hops fill the nose. Good balanced flavors of nutty grain, chocolate, caramel, and earthy. Medium-to-full body, moderate carbonation, balanced start-to-finish. Very good porter in my opinion.

Had this on tap at the brewery. Nice deep black look. Nice head on it Chocolaty and smooth with a lot of malt flavor. It does feel a bit thin but overall very nice.

On-tap at Hopleaf, Chicago, IL
A: The beer is hazy brown in color. It poured with a quarter finger high light beige head that died down a bit but never completely faded away.
S: Moderate aromas of nutty malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of chocolate malts and coffee along with notes of nutty malts.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: Once the taste develops, the beer has a nice balance between the chocolatey, coffee and nutty flavors.
Serving type: on-tap

The one word to describe this beer is "meh". While it has the classic coffee/toffee notes of a porter it's flavor is extremely underwhelming. It's definitely easy to sip on but if you are looking for a porter with a standout flavor or hint of boldness, I would pass on this beer.

Gives Edmund Fitzgerald a run for its money as best American porter. Wow.
