a tasty oatmeal brown ale with locally roasted coffee, well made beer for sure and a nice recipe, but this one tasted a little bit under flavored to me, perhaps i should not have had it concurrently with their robust smoked porter, which i think lingered a bit into this one on my palate. i like the coffee aroma here, but its lighter to me in flavor, especially without any darker malts to play up its roastiness, it seems in the background a little too far. it also has a faint green pepper thing like its starting to fade, but i like it still. the malt is middle of the brown spectrum, but the beer is on the lighter side overall for the style, minimal body backing up the chocolate and coffee flavors in here, despite the oatmeal, which adds a certain creaminess but without the weight i expected from it. simple and easy drinking and even elegant though, and with the coffee very well integrated. i think they could stand to scale this one up a little bit, but the beer is nice for the summer, a brown ale for warmer weather, the coffee helps keep it dry. pretty good overall.
