a neat beer right here, these guys are doing some really cool stuff. its largely an american ipa rather than an english one, but its served on a traditional hand pull cask setup, and i think this format is awesome for this style in general. its not too cold so the hops are full on without having to let it warm up. they are also fresher because there is no carbon dioxide at work until the last minute. this looks all rich and creamy on the head with just a little haze to the beer underneath. it smells excellent too, pine forward hops on this one, some bitterness for certain, and a european sort of grassy quality as well, vegetal and leafy and fresh. the taste matches the nose, its all hops in here. likely just a pale two row barley malt base, not much going on there, but there really doesnt need to be. very enjoyable hop profile, traditional and not too aggressive, makes it very drinkable, but there is plenty of bitter punch on the swallow. the cask texture is awesome, creamy and smooth, nothing heavy about it either. maybe not the most ambitious recipe, but the serving format flatters it quite a lot. definitely a spot to make a point to go and visit.
