Pours dark brown/black, almost opaque with ruby red reflections. Small off-white head. Very spotty lacing.
The first thing I smell is an unpleasant sourness, almost sour milk; after getting used to it, it's not that bad, but it's not that good, either. There's also a strong bitter coffee smell as well as cocoa. Very earthy smell. Caramel malts. Light alcohol.
Tastes very strongly of coffee, with sweet cocoa in the aftertaste. Very full and round. Again some sort of sour milk character, although much less than in the smell. There's a hint of burnt malt which makes it slightly bitter, and some caramel too. Kinda ashy, it coats and numbs the palate a bit.
Light body and carbonation. It's almost raspy, again because of the burnt malt taste.
I don't really get what's going on with the sourness/sour milk here. It makes it taste like a weird milk stout and gives it a very sharp smell, aggressive. Despite this it's a pretty nice brew, but the different flavors really don't come together. Shame.
