Needing maximum impact against charging tribesmen during the Philippine-American War, the Americans introduced the .45 caliber handgun for its sheer stopping power against the fighting guerrillas. High on battle morale and often using jungle drugs to inhibit the sensation of pain, the .38 caliber colt was inferior against these jungle warriors.
Likewise, Exit Wounds IPA is all about big impact, big malt meets big hops. Intense tropical fruit notes from simcoe, citra and chinook hops and big British malt sweetness up front followed by a cleansing bitter finish. Take a hit.”

A: The beer is rather hazy orange amber in color—too hazy to see if there is any visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high beige head that died down a bit but left a thick layer of bubbles covering the surface, a collar around the edge, and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of caramel malts and citrusy hops are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and is rather malty for an IPA in this day and age with some additional hints of passionfruit and pine. There is a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a little crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This IPA packs in a lot of malts, but has a good amount of hops to help balance things out.

Look: It's copper-colored and a bit darker than most IPAs. The beer pours with a fairly thick head, and there is fairly heavy lacing.
Smell: There is a robust hops aroma with a lot of citrus, as one would expect for an IPA, but not a lot of grapefruit (unlike other IPAs). The aroma is complex.
Taste: This beer has plenty of big hops flavor, as there should be in an IPA. It's slightly more bitter than other IPAs, but not overly-bitter.
Feel: It's medium-bodied for an IPA.
Overall: This is the real deal - a bona-fide IPA with the taste, body, and aromatic qualities that a good IPA should have. There are IPAs from the USA that I have tried that are better, but there is a pretty high bar now in the USA for IPAs. The flavors and "pops from the hops" are not at the level of "amazing," but it's a good, solid IPA .
