a quality beer from a brewery i had never heard of before this. it came to me in a shaker pint from a nitro tap, and it looks absolutely gorgeous, matte black with a creamy ringy lacing and some nice body and depth. almost has that irish dry stout euro yeast character to it in the smell, earthy and sort of floury. there is a nice roast to this too, charry but smooth, round edges, obviously aided by the nitro, but also i think there must be some oats in here, this has an almost creamy or starchy texture about it, a really neat feel, and i like the weight it has for its low alcohol content. i also like the dark chocolate note, the relative lack of dark grain bitterness, and the apparent simplicity, its just good beer. subtle hops to the finish, a great mouthfeel, and a very dry finish with just a little lingering bitterness. nothing particularly unique about it, but it really easy drinking and of excellent quality overall. looking forward to trying some more of their stuff next time i am up this way!
