L- Pours a Reddish gold that sports a quickly fading fizzy white head. Little to no lacing as a result of the lack of head.

S- A slightly fruity sweetness is the main fare here. Almost a strawberry like aroma. Definitely not what I was expecting by "Smokin' Amber Ale".

T- Taste is likewise as sweet with a slightly earthy hop flavour. Definitely could use a little bit more hops to balance things out.

F- Medium-Light Body with little to no carbonation.

O- Compared to Johnny Jacks other brews, I have to say that I was a little disappointed with this one. It's really unclear to me the direction they tried to go with this one. I was expecting a smoked beer purely because of the name, but was unpleasantly surprised by the sweetness in this one. It's not a bad beer, but definitely not good. I have a feeling that this is their first run and they are still figuring the recipe out. I'll update this review in the future if my opinion changes!

Veiled and slightly hazy dark amber color with poor activity and a soft veil of yeast. Thick creamy and frothy dark beige 3-4 finger island head, lasting around 15 minutes, with decent legs and swirl reaction. Flavors of pears, berries, roasted barley, walnuts, Belgian yeast, light toffee, and herbal hops. Slick and smooth medium body with extra prickly and crispy carbonation. Light to medium strength finish, soft bready feel with balanced hops. Quite fruity with a light sourness. For an amber it's very fresh, lots of yeast with minimal caramel, though not quite as filling as usual. The intensity is a bit shy, could be stronger. No sign of smokin', just a very small hint of wood in there. Overall decent quality craft, nothing special.
