I get the impression this is exactly the same base beer as SoCal but the amount of hops has been increased plus (maybe) dry-hopping. Still misses the mark from a taste and smell perspective. The nose is basically like an English pale ale, sweet & malty. It's pretty good but not what I'd anticipate from an AIPA style. When tasting, it's much more of a hop bomb and bitterness is high. Citrus and tropical fruit flavours are absent so west coast style. However, something is still missing. Would love to know what hops were used. I'm confident these new styles from a traditional English cask ale brewer will improve over time. Work in progress.
