12oz draft
Pours a little over a finger of tan head into a tulip. Retention is decent, lasts a minute or two. Initial lacing looks great. Body is Barely red, almost more black than anything. Looks pretty good so far.
Nose is very sweet, honey malt, tart cherry, not getting too much in the way of oak chips. Rich malt character. Smells delicious, but that's also cause I know it is.
Flavor is just super clean, honey is very present. Cherry is a little tart but overall comes across sweet as it blends with the rest of the beer. Almost a chocolate feel to the beer as it’s much like velvet. Don't get too much oak. Tastes fantastic.
Mouthfeel is perfect. Carbonation is medium, body is medium-light. While it is a very sweet beer, it drinks very easy and there are little to no lingering sticky sugars. And while being sweet, there is some tartness, which adds a nice dimension. Mouthfeel is dare I say perfect.
Drinkability is through the roof, this is wonderful. The fact that the sugars are in check is a real special factor in a beer this sweet, great attenuation.
Appearance turned out quite nice. Lacing was a little patchy, but overall pretty good. Head was not bad and retention was acceptable as well.
Overall a magnificent beer, the only reason it doesn't get a 5 for flavor is because of the lack of oak, and even then I am tempted to give it a 5.
