Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance- The brew is served a deep crimson brown color with a one finger head of off white foam. The head fades rather fast leaving a little bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is a mix of a lightly roasted malt smell mixed with some aromas of caramel and a touch of toast. Along with these smells comes a light creaminess and a bit of earth.
Taste- The taste begins with a slightly sweeter and more creamy taste of a roasted malt nature mixed with some caramel and crème sweetness. As the taste advances more sweetness of a molasses nature as well as some brown sugar come to the tongue. At the end a touch of vanilla crème comes to the tongue and with a hint of hop, leaves one with a toasty and smooth taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel- The body of the brew for a 4.5 % ale is rather thick and creamy with a carbonation level that is rather low. For the dark and creamy nature of the brew the feel is fantastic, and while only at 4.5 % abv. it makes for a super slow and easy sipper.
Overall – For such a light brew mixed with the dark flavors the feel is awesome and makes for one easy sipper and a nice cool weather session.
