Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear orange amber color with a one finger head of white colored foam. The head fades very fast leaving just a trace of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is strong of a citrus and tropical fruit smell of mango and papaya. Along with these aromas comes a big hit of a bitter grapefruit rind smell as well as some lighter notes of herbal and pine hops.
Taste – The taste begins with a crisp cracker malt flavor that has light hints of tangerine and orange mixed within. Right from the start the hop is rather strong with a big showing of a bitter grapefruit hop mixed with some lighter notes of an herbal and grassy hop. As the flavor advances the sweet fades a bit all while the mix of hop tastes gets stronger. Toward the end the dank hops surge, and at the culmination of the taste, leave one with a nice bitter grapefruit, and moderately dank hop taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the lighter and more crisp side with a carbonation level that is higher as well. For the big biter grapefruit mixed with the crack malt and the other dank hop, the feel is quite nice and makes for a nice crisp sipper.
Overall – Lots of bitter grapefruit here folks. Crisp and grapefruit, with a solid overall flavor profile. A nice west coast style IPA for sure.
