2019 Version. The ABV is reduced to 4.7%. I had it on draught at the brewery. It pours a reddish-brown color that resembles iced tea, and sports a thin, eggshell-colored cap and lacing. It's fragrant nose features freshly-brewed coffee, along with bready malt, cola, and earthy peat. It's a vibrant smell for a Kolsch. The taste opens with a lot of coffee and caramel, along with brown bread, corn muffin, a touch of cola, and notes of spice at the finish. For a Kolsch it's highly flavorful. The feel is lit and crisp with a pleasant level of carbonation, and it drinks very easily at 4.7% ABV. Overall, On the Off Chance is a very well-crafted and executed Kolsch. Twin Elephant has such an adept touch when it comes to European styles of beer. This offering really hits the spot on a cool Fall afternoon.

A: Hazy brown/red/purple
S: clean lager smell. Smells more like a California common than a kolsch. Caramel malts, fresh bread, and a bit of grains
T: taste is sweet malts, tons of grains, a hint of sweet citrus and lemongrass
M: medium mouthfeel. Mid-level carbonation
O: hybrid between kolsch and California Common, but leans more toward a Steam Beer like flavor. It's good. Nothing off putting and finishes clean.
