I had this on draught at the brewery. I'm honestly surprised by how low this beer is rated. It pours a dark mahogany with a thin, khaki-colored head that dissipated quickly leaving a thin sheen of lacing. The nose features freshly-brewed coffee, roasted malt, and whiffs of cocoa and vanilla. The taste is roasty and nutty with fresh coffee and subtle vanilla. There is a nice malty sweetness up front. As the glass warms, the chocolate becomes more noticeable. There is a bit of burnt coffee char at the finish. This ale has a fairly creamy mouth feel with moderate, pleasant carbonation, and it's an easy drinker with an ABV of 5.9% Overall, this is an excellent Porter with lots of flavor. I was pleasantly surprised and I look forward to drinking this again. I'm glad that it's part of Twin Elephant's regular rotation.

On-tap @ Twin Elephant Brewing Co. in Chatham, NJ.

American Brown Porter finished with Homestead Coffee Roasters Deadman's Brew.

Dark brown with a small creamy tan head. Good retention.

All coffee in the aroma. I guess there is roasted malt but it's hard to detect from the coffee.

Upon tasting, my fears come true, it's a total coffee bomb. You really can't taste much else besides coffee. It even feels slightly gritty in the finish. Medium bodied.

Bottom line, if you're a coffee lover go for it. If not, stay away. Would have loved to have tasted the base Porter without it.

A: dark dark murky brown color, almost black. Real nice 1 finger solid tan head

S: roast malt, milk chocolate, cola, chestnuts, oats, Brown sugar, and just a hint of oak

T: roast malts, dark chocolate, oak, and a nice char/ roast bitterness right away. A mild nutty flavor behind that with some brown sugar and cola. Finish is sweet with a little bit more roast

M: medium mouthfeel, with mid-high carbonation. In line with a porter

O: solid porter. The nutty addition is a nice feature which adds a bit more to the standard roast malt flavor
