I had this on draught at the brewery. Pint pour. It pours a turbid medium brown with orange hues. It's an unusual color for an IPA. It has a full finger of foamy, ecru-colored head and lacing. The head dissipated quickly but the elegant lacing persisted through the pour. The nose features sweet malt, onion, and fragrant floral hops. Wow, this opens like a Brown Ale with lots of sweet malt, caramel, nuts, and pumpernickel bread. In fact, there is initially a candy bar quality. Then, the Citra and Centennial hops appear; they're flavorful but not overly bitter. Everything works really well! The feel is decadent: thick, creamy, and silky. It doesn't feel like 7.8% ABV. Overall, I was very impressed: This beer is something between a Brown Ale and a southern style, malty IPA. It's well-conceived and executed. I know everyone talks about Lil Shimmy Ye but I think this is the best Twin Elephant brew I've tasted thus far.

A: super murky pale brown color with a thin tan head
S: sweet caramel, strawberries, grapefruit, mango, pineapple, crackers
T: caramel, molasses, bitter grapefruit, Orange zest. There is some brown sugar in the backbone here as well as a nice bready note
M: medium, sticky mouthfeel. Low carbonation
O: billed as a “fall IPA” it is much heavier on the malt than a typical IPA for sure, and heavier in the mouth as well. It’s more sweet than bitter, but has a subtle bitterness that prevents it from becoming too sweet
