On draught at the brewery. It pours a totally opaque, bright tangerine color with minimal, ecru-colored head and soapy lacing. The nose is rather subdued with notes of lemon, tangerine, and light floral hops. Its taste opens with lots of tart orange and lemon followed by a crackery malt. As the glass warms there are additional notes of sweet pineapple. The bill of Simcoe, El Dorado, and CTZ hops is flavorful but not very bitter and without a strong bite (even for a dog-themed beer). There's a touch of pepper and yeast burn at the finish. This ale has a pleasing mouth feel with lively carbonation, and its 6.9% ABV gives it substance without being overly boozy. Overall, Hardog is an enjoyable American IPA. It's not at the level of Twin Elephant's best work but it's refreshing and welcome on a warm, late summer afternoon.

A: hazy orange burnt caramel color. Fluffy off-white head
S: pineapple, mango, sweet orange, sweet malt, a touch of fluffy grapefruit
T: follows the nose. Sweet orange. Grapefruit, pineapple, an earthy bitterness. A nice sweetness as well. Nice balance in here
M: medium mouthfeel and very fluffy. Lower mid carbonation
O: nice NE IPA. Nice balance. It's sweet and bitter and fluffy. Refreshing and not too strong
