Nature red in tooth and claw. The revival of the classic American Red is upon us and The Bleeder reigns supreme! There will be a new champion and his name will be Big Chuck! Burley, surely and heavy handed this Runyonesque red is guts and glory and nostalgia on two fronts for us! This is the liquified thrill of the fight, so square up with this dawg! Caramel sweetness and a hoppy bash of Citra, Ella, Cascade, and Chinook are face to face, tearing at the very fabric, hanging tough and staying hungry. Big, hoppy, bitter and sweet. Notes of pineapple and orange, citrus bitterness, pine and resinous hops, blonde coffee, sweet caramel.

Appearance: Arrives burnt orange with a small head that fades without leaving much lacing action
Smell: Caramel malt tones dominate the aroma with a piney edge and a fruity aspect
Taste: Caramel malt forward with a fruity element; through the middle, the resinous, piney aspect takes over but the finish is rather dry with all the elements lingering to some extent
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation
Overall: Here is a style we don't see very often and Twin Elephant has put out an impressive interpretation

Pint pour on draught at the brewery. It pours a slightly hazy, cranberry-orange color with a large, fluffy, long-lasting khaki-colored head and thick sheen of creamy lacing. It's a very attractive pour. The nose is rather subdued. It's malt-based with pine needles and light floral hops. The taste opens with a solid base of malt with caramel and toffee notes, which is quickly washed over by fairly bitter, resinous Chinook and Centennial hops that are highly flavorful, and fresh pine needles. There is a hint of spice at the finish. The flavors are very well-balanced. It's a very tasty ale. The mouth feel is full-bodied with a pleasant level of carbonation, and it's surprisingly easy to drink considering its elevated ABV of 8.4% Overall, Bayonne Bleeder is really good! It features great, balanced flavors and a pleasing mouth feel. It reminds me of Sierra Nevada's Celebration Ale and I think it may be better!

A: very nice ruby red/mahogany color with some dark cherry notes towards the top. Nice 1 finger even tan head
S: huge juicy hit of strawberry and passionfruit. Grapefruit, oranges, and pineapple behind that. A nice big sweet malt presence in there as well. Herbal tea leaves and a hint of mango at the end
T: big bready sweet malts followed by smooth grapefruit and ripe pineapple. A hint of resin behind that. Another punch of caramel followed by those tea leaves. Sweet orange peel on the finish
M: heavy, sticky mouthfeel with medium carbonation
O: very good interpretation of the style. It’s sweet, smooth, and has a good presence of earthy hops to round it out. Nice and full in the mouth as well
