Pint on draught at the brewery. It pours a dense, grassy, pastel yellow color with a creamy, milk-white head and thick film of lacing inside the glass. It's an elegant, NE IPA appearance. It smells of lemon peel, grapefruit, honeydew melon, onion, and a whiff of vanilla cream. The taste opens with tart citrus and just a hint of melon and tangerine/orange. Initially, it's really dank. But the initial fruitiness quickly gives way to dry grass and cracker. This is my first experience with Tardif de Bourgogne hops. I don't think they explain the initial citrus because Citra hops are also used. However, as the glass warms I notice a slight wine grape taste which may result from the use of the rare French hops. The hops provide a bitter bite and the finish, along with a slight burn which may mellow over time. The feel of this ale is viscous and creamy with pleasant carbonation. While the 6.4% ABV is not overpowering, this is nonetheless a heavy, filling beer. Overall, I enjoyed Moose Bumps. Despite its moderate ABV it drinks big and has a lot of flavor.
