Pint on draught at the brewery. It pours a turbid, pale tangerine color with a half finger of creamy, milk-white head and soapy lacing. The smell is floral with faint citrus. The taste opens with tart grapefruit and lemon, along with distinct notes of fresh pineapple. There is sweeter fruit, including red berry, at mid-palate. The finish includes a lot of pepper and spice. As the glass warms it's increasingly bitter and there is increasing astringency. This ale is thick and creamy - a heavy feel - with moderate carbonation. And it drinks above its 6.4% ABV. Overall, Blue Flowers is refreshing but it lacks the subtlety and balance of Twin Elephant's better IPAs.
