a: hazy muted matte orange with some pale yellow notes. poured a fizzy 2 finger white head that faded very quickly to nothing but a thin film
s: mango, peach cobbler, pineapple. sweet biscuits, creamsicle, orange zest. a little papaya and strawberry kiwi
t: pineapple, passionfruit, and papaya upfront. peach, dragonfruit, and mango behind that. a kiss of sweet malt, and creamsicle. some orange soda-like notes as well. a bit of biscuits at the end. a touch of that strawberry kiwi as well
m: medium mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. strong carbonation for a NEIPA
o: really tasty NEIPA. nice tropical fruit presence that drinks smooth and easy. nicd hop combo

Pint pour on draught at the brewery. It pours an opaque, dirty golden-tangerine color with a finger of fluffy, bright white head and heavy, clinging lacing. It's a very attractive pour. Its smell features grapefruit, lemon peel, tangerine, sweet fruit, oats, and resinous floral hops. The taste opens with tart, somewhat bitter grapefruit, lemon, and lime, along with sweet oats and lactose, wheat cracker, and notes of mint and dank herbs. It's plush and full-flavored and finishes dry and moderately bitter. With its imaginative hop bill of Strata, Sabro, Citra, and Ekuanot, this ale is nicely balanced with citrus, sweeter tropical fruit, and malt with a good degree of bitterness. The mouth feel is full-bodied and creamy with a pleasant level of carbonation, and it drinks easily for its 7.6% ABV. Overall, Herd is the Word is an excellent American IPA with lots of flavor, a nice hoppy bite, and a great mouth feel. I'm spoiled by the great IPAs that Twin Elephant has been brewing of late.
