Pint on draught at the brewery. It's an unusual color: a muddy brown with orange hues. It sports a large, fluffy, milk-white head and a thick film of lacing. There's heavy rye on the nose, along with notes of lemon, grapefruit, and berry. The taste opens with rye bread, spice, and peppercorn, along with tart, slightly bitter lemon and grapefruit. At mid-palate there is fresh berry, which becomes more evident as the glass warms. It finishes with bitter, earthy, resinous Nugget hops. This ale has good body but is also crisp with fairly lively carbonation, and with an ABV of 6.4% it drinks very easily. Overall, this is one of the most rye-forward ales I've had. But the berry taste from the Belma hops and the bitterness at the finish make it more complex and thoroughly enjoyable.
