a: nice clear light copper color with some orange and yellow notes. pours a 2-3 finger frothy white head. classic West Coast IPA appearance
s: aroma starts off with a rather noticeable malt sweetness. earthy vanilla and sweet citrus behind that. crackers, grapefruit zest, passionfruit, and a hint of mango. tangerines and candied apricots as well. big bready note. a touch of a floral note
t: taste is better than the aroma. some earthy dank notes followed by sweet lemon, generic citrus, and grapefruit. big crisp malt note as a backbone as well as some subtle bitter herbal notes. just the faintest hint of diactyl at the end though
m: medium-light mouthfeel with strong carbonation. not sticky at all for 8.4%
o: the aroma on this is a bit lacking, but the taste works better. it's surprisingly crisp and light for an 8.4% beer, which makes it very dangerous. mild West Coast flavors, though i wish the bitterness was a bit stronger in here, it's still a very easy drinking beer

Pint pour on draught at the brewery. Coasted has a similar grain bill to Twin Elephant's Quested but Simcoe, Centennial, and CTZ hops are used. It pours a clear, grassy yellow with a large, creamy, bright white cap and extensive, thick, soapy lacing. Very attractive. The smell is rather sedate - mostly lemon peel, malt, and floral hop notes. The taste more than redeems it. The substantial malt base provides a hint of sweetness but it's more than balanced by tart, bitter lemon and grapefruit. It's dry with clean bitterness and finishes with a touch of hop burn. This ale is amazingly lite and crisp for 8.4% ABV - it has a lager-like feel. It's crushable for its gravity. Overall, Coasted is well crafted and enjoyable to drink. It's a prime candidate for canning.
