Dog-day mainstays knockdown DIPA. Who says you can’t hopscotch with a fistful of frosty? Belgian & American pilsner malts, some PA pale oats and Citra, Meridian, & Simcoe hops. Smells like melons, cotton candy, wild berries. Tastes like banana, cantaloupe, watermelon and kiwi.

Pint pour on draught at the brewery. It pours a dense, murky, dirty tangerine color with a full finger of creamy, bright white head and thick lacing. A classic New England look. Its robust smell features lemon, lime, grapefruit, pineapple, red berry, and sweet floral hops. The taste opens with a good balance of tart citrus, tropical notes, and sweet, mellow red berry. The Meridian hops accentuate the Citra. There is a dry, solid malty backbone with clean bitterness throughout from the Centennial and Chinook hops. The overall flavor is complex but surprisingly mellow. Nothing jumps out. This ale has a thick, pleasing feel with pleasant carbonation, and the 8.3% ABV gives it lots of substance without overpowering. Overall, Sidewalk Chalk is another excellent DIPA from Twin Elephant. It deserves a shot at canning.
