Color Blind

Pint pour on draught at the brewery. Served in a Willi Becher glass. It pours a murky, dirty tangerine color with a half finger cap of creamy, bright white foam and swirls of lacing. A modest citrusy, herbal nose. The taste includes a sweet, oaty base with tart lemon and grapefruit, and dank grassy, herbal notes from the Strata hops. As it warms a bit I note some sweeter, tropical and stone fruit flavors from the Riwaka and El Dorado hops. There is very little bitterness. This ale has a plush, creamy mouth feel with moderate carbonation, and the 8.5% ABV gives it good substance. In fact, it alcohol sneaks up on you. Overall, while I confess not to be a fan of Strata and Riwaka hops, Color Blind is well-crafted and flavorful. I enjoyed it.
