On draught at the brewery. Served in a Willi Becher glass. It is muddy, dirty tangerine in color with a half finger of creamy, bright white foam and a thick film of lacing. The nose is fruity and fragrant with aromas of lemon, tangerine, pineapple, melon, and white wine. Its flavor is similar with soft, tropical pineapple and passion fruit over a fairly sweet malt base.
The sweetness is tempered by a distinct herbal spiciness. There is a modest hop bitterness throughout. This ale is well-bodied and moderately carbonated, and it drinks well below its 10% ABV. Overall, Birch Hill is a very flavorful IPA that is dangerously drinkable for its high gravity.
