Pint pour on draught at the brewery. It is grassy yellow in color and it sports a heavy, eggshell head and thick sheen of lacing. The smell includes lemon, grapefruit, and heavy sweet malt. What is interesting in the taste are notes of stone fruit up front with bitter lemon and grapefruit rind. There is a solid cracker malt base. This ale is lite and crisp with fairly lively carbonation, and it doesn't drink like 8.5% ABV. Overall, Emerald Ledges is not a classic West Coast IPA insofar as the Simcoe hops provide a berry/stone fruit flavor. But it is a flavorful and enjoyable DIPA. I recommend it!
