On this, New Clear Out the Reefer Beers Sunday (Week 783), I am opting to begin with one of the MOST frustrating CANning breweries in my exbeerience. I have had so many of their CANs puff up & explode that each survivor is now treated like nitroglycerin & cold-stored until CANsumption for The CANQuest (tm). 8=(
From the (intact) CAN: "India Pale Ale w/Centennial & Milk Sugar"; "Artfully Crafted & CANned …"; "Unfiltered. Store Cold. Drink Fresh."
I beCAN by Crack!ing open the vent, followed by quiet CANtemplation of what to do next. I was sorely tempted to really let fly with an aggro Glug, given that I was listening to the DKs, but I held my hand & started a slow, gentle C-Line Glug, instead. I was rewarded (?) with the formation of two-plus fingers of foamy, soapy, rocky, bone-white head with excellent retention, taking forever to fall & leaving behind a load of lacing. Color was an unusual for the style deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Pale-Straw (SRM = 1 - 2). Nose was very evocative of old skool PNW AIPAs with a pronounced grapefruit citrusiness & pine mintiness. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium, but just right. The taste closely followed the nose with a burst of grapefruit citrusiness underlain by pine mintiness. Yum. No tropical CANsense in this one! Finish was clean, dry & bitter, just as it should be. I was happy with this offering from them. YMMV.
