Light haziness is the color of pastel orange and glows in the light. A one-inch, creamy head lasts a few minutes before leaving a coating of fine white lace and a thin veil in a Spieglau IIPA glass.
The aroma is quite grassy with a ton of grapefruit pith. Mandarin orange follows. Overall, these are very fresh.
The flavor is more bitter than sweet or fruity. Orange comes out with some grapefruit. Acidity is surprisingly high. The long finish is entirely composed of grapefruit pith and peel.
A medium to full body with the texture of nylon. Alcohol and creamy carbonation are as expected. Astringency is somewhat high for the style, and more appropriate for an American IPA.
This is a decent IPA for a cause (treating ALS). I enjoyed it Thanksgiving afternoon. Thank you Dave for this trade.
