It happened, we made it through. Maybe it’s more that we’re making it through, but at least the end is in sight. Let’s celebrate with a shareable tipple, a small pour to say “we did it together, now let’s get together.” A celebration in a bottle, a reflection in a glass; we’re persevering. Share this bottle with someone you haven’t been with in a while.

This one pours a thick and syrupy looking dark brown color, with a tiny head, and no lacing.
This smells like raisin, plum, port, maple syrup, molasses, caramel, booze, and chocolate.
This works surprisingly well. I think it would be absolutely excellent in barrels, but this un-oaked barleywine/strong ale/beastly monstrosity is still good anyway. You definitely feel the booze here, but it’s not overwhelming, really at all – it’s more of a sweet heat and warmth, rather than a prickly, astringent booziness that so often comes along with stuff at this advanced of an ABV.
This is syrupy, but not overly cloying, with a fruity and smoothly malty finish, and a nice boozy jacket over it all.
I really wasn’t sure what I was going to think of this – I bought it completely on a whim and then forgot about it for about two years. It’s possible that some age really helped this come into its own.
