Went to Port Halling to check it out before going to the Organic Brewers Fest and glad I had a chance to venture a tad out of my usually range.
First, the location was quite a pleasant suprise as it was located in a pretty neat area, the historic downtown part of Gresham. A suprise mostly because I didn't know Gresham had any neat parts. The pub itself was very spacious and open, though most of this was devoted to the restaurant part and not the bar. However, what it lacks in bar size it makes up for in quantity - there are two different bars to park yourself at!
And as I usually do when I go to a pub, I got a sampler to maximum the number of different beers to try. And I'm exceedingly glad that I did, because I wouldn't have otherwise had a chance to try their Heather Ale. Wow, now that's a beer! And how could I pass up a Hogwarts Kolsh after a sample, or the Scotch Ale? From top to bottom (that being a very unimpressive Mild Ale), this brewery turns out some fantastic beers.
After spending a few hours on my quick reconnaissance, I left wondering when I could get back again. A must see if you ever find yourself in the greater Gresham area...
