Loved the brewer's tap house so I picked these up on my way out the door. The lager looks beautifully champagne colored and bright, the smell however, was weird. It was on the verge of being something I thought was skunky, but then the beer itself was really refreshing and crisp. Like I said, weird. Overall, a decent lager worth a try...or more...

solid beer from a quality standpoint, my first from these guys, they call it a cuban american lager, not sure what makes this cuban, are there ingredients or methods from cuba in this? if so, id love to know more about that aspect, from a drinking standpoint, its kind of just a lager, a pretty darn good one, but im not seeing this as unique or curious in any immediate way. yellow in the glass with a short and short lived white head but excellent clarity, not overly lively. the nose is mild to me, but seems to show good attention to detail on the water chemistry side, clean fermentation, and a sort of intentional minimalism that is endearing. because the nose is just kind of plain and balanced and simple, i was surprised to find this so flavorful, especially for being so pale, its dry, with light citrus from whatever hops are in here, a european note to the grain, not quite baked or warm like that, crisper but slightly nutty too, mineral forward, and the lager yeast has some character too, not totally invisible in this but not like, explicitly german or anything either, patiently done. this is good, its tidy, refreshing, brisk, but not generic either. i think it could have a little more carbonation, but i could have easily made an afternoon of these. this seems like a pretty neat operation, would love to know more about the cuban influence on this one, never seen that on a beer before...
