Schwarz (4.9%) is a beer from Birrificio della Granda, a producer based in Lagnasco (CN). It takes as its model the Schwarz category, classic dark beers from the German brewing heritage, characterized by a discreetly light body, elegant roasted notes and a clear dryness at the end. The aromatic profile features notes of rye bread, chocolate and coffee and subsequently tendencies attributable to cut grass, caramel and flowers.

Copenhagen 11/9 2024. 33 cl can from Meny, Borups Allé, Frb. F. Light blue can with golden red splotches.
Pours clear dark brown with a red hue. Mid-sized off-white head. Stable. Settles thin, patchy layer of foam stretching to cover the surface of the beer. No lacing
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet and malty odor with a light touch of roast. Dark, roasted malts, caramel and toffee. Whiff of brown sugar. Dark chocolate and licorice for balance.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, sot, almost flat texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a rather strong sweetness followed by moderately strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish with a light bitter undertone. Lingers for a bit. Finish is semi-dry.
Nice nose but a bit generic in flavor.
