On tap at the brewery.
A: Pours a dark black color, nearly opaque. A two finger tan head forms with good retention. Plenty of lace is left behind.
S: An odd roast character up front in the nose, which is a little off putting. A smoky, meaty, and charred aroma. Light chocolate lingers as well. That is it, pretty simple.
T: Again, there is a big roasted malt flavor. Once adjusted to the roast character, I don't find it as jarring as the nose. Charred, smoky, and meaty. A touch of chocolate again.
M/O: A light to medium body. Lighter than expected given the big roast and char character. Crisp and smooth at the same time. Not hard to drink, but more of a one and done for me.
An average stout, with a slightly off putting char and roast character. Not bad when at the brewpub, but like some of their other offerings, this would not stand out on its own. One of the better house beer offerings they have though.
