Lapin Kulta is brewed in a little northern town called Tornio. Brewery is owned by Hartwall, which is now a part of S&N.
Lapin Kulta (Lapplands Gold in english) used to dominate Finnish beer market in the 1990's. The main product (4,5 %, abv) had more than 30 per cent of the market. It is not the case anymore and Hartwall has lost its marbles. This explain partly the reason there are brands such as Lapin Kulta Extra Strong Lager and Lapin Kulta Ice.
The strongest version of Lapin Kulta (8 % abv) is not a bad beer if you like lightly hopped sweetish pale lager with alcoholic flavour. I do not.

PS. Lapin Kulta IVB does not come with green bottle and it is bit stronger than the beer Globetrotter has reviewed here before. Practically we are talking about same stuff.

Comes in a standard green 33 cl bottle with a dark label featuring a sunset and lots of words, mostly in English. Ingredients include ascorbic acid. Best before 12/03, I opened it on 11/12/03.

Pours a slightly orangish clear gold under essentially no head at all. What foam there is fizzles fast, leaving just an island of film on top of the liquid and a couple of bubbles clinging to one side. The nose is malty sweet, but not overpowering. The mouth is prickly and heavy. The taste starts sweet and malty, with just a bit of fruit juice. There are some harsh hops lurking in the background somewhere. The make their presence known in the finish, and mingle well with the sweetness to leave a not horrible aftertaste. If this were the only beer I could have, I'd probably stop liking beer. Maybe.
