Can from Brewers Haven. Pale straw color, small, fine white head. Big malty aroma, grainy. Taste is also up front malts, but a nice backplane of crisp hops adds some much needed bite. An under-appreciated style, and this one’s decent.

giving this poor rating due to a batch of beer i recently bought from Utah liquor stores. every can is over carbonated, and i lose 1/4 to 1/2 a can on every pour. This is not the only issue i have seen with this beer - the cans are very fragile and are VERY easily punctured. I have had multiple cans puncture in the liquor store carts.

This WAS my go to beer in Utah, but if they cannot provide a good product from start to finish, i will be not be purchasing any of their products anymore. Lucky for me, the draconian beer laws have been relaxed in UT. welcome to the 80's

[Original rating 2017-02-24] Can. Pours clear gold with.a medium white head that settles quickly. Aroma of bread and sweet malt, a hint of alcohol. Taste is sweet malt with a sweet boozy finish. Doesn’t taste much like a pilsner, missing the hops. I think imperial pilsner is a hard style to get right, the balance in a pilsner isn’t something that can be just cranked up. But still not a bad beer.

Crisp and biscuity. Packs a punch. Nice bready yeast notes. Starts sweet and dries out fairly quickly. Great beer.

Clear gold with three fingers of white foamy head. Splotches of lace.
Smell is cracker malt and bitter herbal grassy hops.
Taste is similar to the smell but the hops pull out in front. A small amount of alcohol shows up.
Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation. The finish is dry and bitter.
Overall an uber Pilz. Good if you crave hops. This sample was about expired so I may reviset at a later date.

This is the first beer of this style I've had, so perhaps my review is redundant but it pours a beautiful dense golden color which makes its dark taste a surprise, you can definitely taste both dense hops and lots of malt, it smells of grass in a very good way

Always up for this style, and always stoked to find lesser-known styles from lesser-known breweries. Never know when you will find a diamond in the rough.

Bright copper with one finger of off white froth.

Smells fruity for the most part with mandarin orange and some grain and grass in the background.

Tastes of orange zest, herbal hops and faint taffy notes in the finish.

Light, crisp and sweeter than expected, but works well.

While this may not be the find of the century, it's still a gem of a brew.

Pours a light, golden color with a fair amount of lacy head atop. There is a little lacing around the glass edges as you drink. Carbonation is aggressive on the pour, subsiding to a few bubbles rising as it sits. On the nose, it's very fruity and grassy with a bit of alcohol on the finish. Taste is similar to the nose with fermented apple and pear up front giving way to a grassy middle and finishing bitter, crisp and dry. The alcohol and astringent fruit and grass flavor linger on the tongue, almost like a cider. The mouthfeel of this one is pretty light without much body or bite, carbonation is average. Overall this one is a bit too grassy and acidic for my tastes although for 7.7% ABV it is pretty drinkable. The alcohol definitely shines more towards the bottom of the glass. Fans of ciders and grassy pilsners would probably enjoy this one, I think I'll skip next time. Cheers!

Pours gold with a 2-3 finger head. Lots of bubbles. Seems to be very carbonated. Smells quite fruity, like a typical pilsner. Fruit taste, comes at you quite bitter. Probably because of the high alcohol but it also does have 51 IBU. Mouthfeel is good. I'm personally not a fan of very bitter beers. Not bad for what it is though.
