A traditional Northern English Brown Ale with a toffee-like, lightly caramelly character and a medium-dry finish.

Bottle: Poured a deep brown, almost black color ale with an average size foamy head with good retention and limited lacing. Aroma of deep caramel malt with some toffee notes. Taste is also dominated by some deep caramel malt with some toffee notes and some minimal hops presence. Body is bit too thin with good carbonation. Loads of character for style that can be often quite bland.

this is my personal favorite of the wakkers regular beers (as opposed to there seasonal or specialty brews)

appearance: deep chestnut brown with mohogany highlights when held up to the light, tight creamy head.

smell: malty, like molasses. fruity like baked apples, very subtle hop aroma.

taste: toasted grain, nuts and raisins, little hop flavor, slightly sweet.

mouthfeel: creamy,, slight grainyness, and astringancy, suprisingly dry finish for the sweetness.

drinkability: goes down too easy, one always tastes like another refreshig, tasty.

honestly, this is my favorite beer . i would have liked to have given it full marks all round but for the sake of being objective...

cheers

650ml bottle poured in a pint glass (twice).

Dark walnut brown with some reddish tinge. Big, dense 3/4 inch head is beige. Head retention is good. Sheets of lacing down the sides.

Nice strong malty aroma. Tones of nuts and sweetness with a hint of fruit.

Taste is roasted malt up front with a touch of nut and sweetness around the edges. A bitter character starts in the middle and builds it's way toward the finish. Slightly bitter aftertaste.

Rich, smooth, full and round mouthfeel. Very little carbonation, as it should be.

This is a nice easy going brown ale. The bitter finish just prohibits you enough so that you can't slug these back, forcing you to sip and savour. The only real complaint is the bitter finish... tone it down a touch and this is truly excellent. One of my favourites at Bushwakkers for a nice relaxing evening of socializing with friends and/or family.

650 ml brown bottle with generic Bushwakker label. Pours deep brown with a full tan colored head. Aroma of toasted dark malt and also some licorice. Nice balance of roasted, chocolaty malt and sweetness on the palate. Just a hint of bitterness on the finish. As it warms, even more smokiness comes through.
