Bottle: Poured a deep copper color lager with a good size foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of deep caramel malt with a nice dry hoppy finish. Taste is also a mix between deep caramel malt with limited sweetness and a dry hoppy finish. A bit more intense and hoppy then the style would usually suggest but still easily drinkable. Full body with limited filtration and good carbonation.

appearance: deep copper red, very little head, lingering lace.

smell: not much of anything, clean, very subtle malt and almost no hops aroma,

taste: light initial malt, slight hoppyness. some "pear" like fruitiness (not much)

mouthfeel: surprizingly thin for such a dark brew, slightly creamy, very low carbonization.

drinkability: quafable

cheers

650ml bottle poured in a pint glass.

Dark orange to light red-brown amber in colour and clear. Light beige head foams up to 1 inch on the pour then slowly reduces to a spotchy cap. Spotty lacing down the sides.

Aroma is mild, but quite sweet with highlights of caramel and malt. Hints of hops in the background.

Malty sweet with that hint of caramel at the swallow. Through the carbonation rush on the tongue the sweetness fades and a mild hop bitterness comes forward. Finish is moderately hop-bitter with a touch of sweetness. Aftertaste is quite mild, but has elements of both the hops and malt.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied but leaves a nice round feeling. Nicely balance, this gives both the sweet tooth and hop head something to latch on to.

While this is a good beer, it doesn't seem to lend itself to the massive amounts of beer consumption that one usually associates with Oktoberfest. The finish really reminds me of their Last Mountain Lager. Kind of like a maltier version of the same beer.
